The Five And Ten
When I was just a young lad, stores we’d visit now and then;
Like Kresge’s and old Woolworths, they call them Five and Ten’s!
I remember being happy, cause they had departments with some pets;
Turtles, birds and little fish, with your allowance you were able get!
.
But this morning these numbers give me heartache, for they bring back recent memories;
Each one is so significant, as this grief envelopes me!
Because “ten” weeks ago this very day, we took Cody to his Vet;
To get a bath, and make him pretty, every two weeks his appointment set!
.
But that day we did not realize, we’d be back in just “five” more;
To send him off to Heaven, as our souls in half were tore!
Oh “Five And Ten”, in old times, you brought joy into my heart;
But today you bring devastation, for my Soulmate had to part!
.
.
Numbers have meanings
But sometimes their pith can change
Smiles become sad tears

Hi Larry,
I'm so sorry you are in so much pain after losing your little mate Cody. It is difficult at times to move forward when your heart is breaking. I hope you find some solace knowing he is always with you, you bring him back to life with your words and memories.
All my love

My Dear Lorna,
As usual, your beautiful words bring tears to my eyes. Cody had so many poetic soulmates from all over the world. Every time one of you writes about him, it brings great joy to my heart and soul.
All my love,

It's quite amazing how much your pain can create such a vivid picture of the love you have.nice write.
Dear Gerald,
Thank you for those beautiful words; they mean a lot to me. This morning, I read your phenomenal poem "The master plan", and it inspired me to write one of my own, which I'll post sometime this weekend, with a full credit to you for its inspiration.
Peace and Love,
