The Four Seasons Of My Youth

Inspired by Tony Taylors’ powerful work “The Accents Of My Youth”
.
Childhood
.
Young love, true love
The first time a lads’ heart sings
He never forgets her lovely face
And the joy to him she brings
Its’ innocence and purity
The illumination of his youth
The antithesis of his world today
With women so uncouth
He remembers well her puerile lips
Those “Accents” of his past
He’ll lose himself in dreams of yesterday
And wish they’d ever last
.
Adolescence
.
My first love was Deborah
I met her when I was ten
A dark-haired beauty only nine years old
I couldn’t wait to see her again
For we had moved to a brand new neighborhood
And she lived just four doors away
After school we’d go outside a bit
Where we’d meet to laugh and play
She made my heart go pity-pat
But I was very, very shy
I never told her how I felt
And then the years went by
.
Teenage
.
All of a sudden we were teenagers
In High School, one grade apart
I dated several girls my age
But Deborah still had my heart
Then one day I met another lass
And after we had four dates
We decided to be exclusive
To go steady and be mates
We lasted for around twenty months
We broke up in the late Spring
I was eighteen and still seeking
A girl happiness would me bring
.
Becoming An Adult
.
I started dating voraciously
Looking for the one who was meant for me
The more I searched, the less I found
With perfect compatibility
Then one day when I was nineteen
My quest ended, I’d found the one
In just two weeks we pledged eternity
And off to get married did we run
Two kids and five and a half years later
We split up, and went our separate ways
Which made me wonder, had I married my sweet Deborah
Would I have found my “Happy Days”?
.
.
     Seasons ever change
But the heart is a constant
     Always seeking love

My Dear Friend Jason,
These sweet sounds of love
Reverberate in his heart
