revenge might well be sweet .. but genocide leaves a dreadful & unforgivable aftertaste ..
Somewhere
in the distance
through
the cross hairs
and just
a touch off dead
centre ..
He could barely
make out
what looked like
an old
oily rag waving
back at him,
mid all the smoke
and dust
from where
a shell had only
recently
burst overhead ..
Before
prayers that is,
and their
later than usual
supper ..
It now appears
a single shell
had taken
out both the old
school
and the new kids
playground ..
There are those
of course,
who will always
insist
the direct hit in
question
was self-defence
and not
some kind of
brutal
retaliation for
an earlier event ..
But then,
there are those
of us who
know full well
it was part
of some strategic,
ongoing
onslaught and
determined
attempt to silence
and rearrange
a small
parcel of land,
they once
called Gaza, forever ..

We do actually have a very simple answer to preventing war and the slaughter of innocents. A continent should be designated and sliced up so that each country has its own (war space) All disagreements should then be fought out only in the designated spaces. Or...here's one I like better...get the very top leaders from each country, guerilla group or whatever to dual it out. So if it were US and UK it would be old Biden and Rishi...if still not happy with outcome then the next inline from the top to dual...Good idea? No dead civilians, soldiers, no reducing cities to rubble, and on the plus side...less ever so smug, slimy arrogant and corrupt politicians to leach our money away. Sorted!! x
