The Gifts

A few days ago we thought about, how tomorrow you’d have turned fifteen;
Last year we gave you two play toys, this year, what would your gifts have been!
But you decided instead of receiving, to do something very new;
We got two presents very special, for your birthday, sent by you!

The first one came on Friday, a lovely pendant gold;
With pure turquoise in it’s center, so beautiful to behold!
It looked unbelievably stunning, when Mommy tried it on;
She wore it Saturday, at a soiree, all eyes to it were drawn!

The party was for Artists, to display and sell their wares;
We perused all of their offerings, and found a painting that was there!
The moment that we saw it, it touched deep into our hearts;
We bought it for our collection, never with it will we part!

We thank you our dear Cody, for sending them our way;
These two precious gifts from Heaven, that we will treasure every day!
We sure wish things were very different, and with us you still were;
So we could kiss you Happy Birthday, and stroke your soft white fur!
