THE GOODBYE KISS

THE GOODBYE KISS

The night has crept up upon us
As we say goodbye to the sunlight
The cab is here blowing its horn
But my heart refuses to say goodnight

In a few hours
The skies will hold you in its arms
And the warmth of your embrace
Would of left my chest
O that there were forty-eight hours in a day
Then my heart would be at rest

May your perfume linger
Until my tears say goodnight
May the stains of your lipstick on my cheeks
Continue to shine bright

May the thought of you
Be my minds last request
Until my love find its way to the comfort
Of your voluptuous breast.
