Aids Death
Tommy Morrison (1969-2013)
the Omaha Great White Hope
nicknamed "The Duke"
was famous for his left hook.
His professional and amateur record
is 343-24-1 with 315 by knockout;
a professional record of
48 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw.
Morrison was a handsome blond,
in the movie Rocky V, AND
loved to drink, party,
have unprotected sex with the ladies
and steroid shots for his build.
His first loss (91) was to Mercer,
who saw the steroid acne on
the Duke’s back, and waited
for the “golden boy” to tire out
and knocked out Morrison out in the fifth.
Morrison beat George Foreman
in June of 1993 to win the WBO
Heavy Weight title and
his way to a 7.5 million
pay day to fight Lennox Lewis.
Why T.M. fought in Tulsa for the
hometown crowd against the
boxer Michael Bentt,
with 11 wins,
before the Lennox bout -
leaving the boxing world
scratching their heads.
Morrison went out drinking
the night before the Bentt fight
convinced of easy victory.
Within 90 seconds, Bentt
knocked out Morrison,
and his chance for the
7.5 million pay day.
In 2008, Morrison was in contract
to fight Mike Tyson, but
refused to take the blood test
mandated by the
Nevada boxing authorities.
Morrison never acknowledged
having the HIV virus.
In 1993 Morrison defeated Foreman
to be world champion -
on September of 2013,
the Duke was defeated
by Aids
aged 44.
