The green-lemon top

The green-lemon top lies on the grass,
I dug a hole in it;
to see what was underneath, 
there were weeds and ten green bottles ,
they were full of carribean sea-water,
the stuff that dolphins swim around in
and jump through hoops for a sardine. 
cruise liners hover above the green-lemon top,
people talk about it excitedly, 
some wave while others take photographs,
children laugh in multicolour;
as their parents look on trying not to utter too many swear words,
a huge steel crane swats flies above the skyline
and cash registers go "ker-ching! "
