~ The Killing Grounds At Katmandu ~

~ The Killing Grounds At Katmandu ~

There once stood a pillar of salt, in the mines of killer thought
An enormous undertaking, through years of wounded effort wrought
A sanctioned, sophisticatedutilitarian point of view
Where through some entangled, righteous, praying few
We found some answers, on the killing grounds at Katmandu...

There were no horsemen, no banners flying, simply silent cries
The broken manners of Holy Fathers, that ran through all these lives
Where magnificently mournful, tribal undertakers, knew
That the truest equations, would not relieve, these bleeding hearts so blue
So we started singing humble sonnets, on the killing grounds at Katmandu...

There were learned librarians, begging for some sound advice
And all through their empty pages, none could even hypothesize
About the distant drumming, or foreboding sounds, we misconstrued
Where teachers lay bleeding, and soldiers were slaying, precious youth
As we began mourning, those lost children, on the killing grounds at Katmandu...

But in the end, a universal understanding, grew from a festering hate
That forced the elders, to put away their fears, and learn to negotiate
As the world was watching, no time for hiding, just time to go and do
Throw all their weapons, into the rivers, and die trying to prove
That only Love, wins any battle, especially, on the killing grounds at Katmandu...

Wow Tony !! A tour de force powerhouse of a poem you have bestowed here.
And your end line is so beautifully exemplified and crafted, so touching and perfect and the poetry icing on the cake for all to behold.
One might say such a delicate balancing act you have pulled off and presented with great aplomb and skill.
Breath- taking to view and thoroughly enjoy my poetry brother.
Thank you Tony for writing and sharing and not forgetting the religious angle and theme. A great write and poetry kudos to you.

Somewhere along the way we have glorified murder and called it war...no, I got that wrong ...we have always killed each other Tony... In every way possible. I wonder at a god that created such psychopaths ...great write x

Thank you kindly MARION!!....and I often wonder the same thing sister girl!!.....What kind of a Creator.....leaves us to our own devices when it is so apparent that we are basically incapable of keeping our raw emotions and carnal nature in check!!......but then again it could simply be that we are here to LEARN that which we are currently speaking of!!........You rock!!......thanx again!!.......T xo  : )

The slaughter of many, for the sake of a few, is what I felt here.  A powerful piece delivered Tony. You gave the reader a full sense of the desecration of human life. The frailty of minds who are blinded by a need for empowerment, at the cost of so many innocent lives. You are a gifted writer my friend and forever teaching us all here with your poetic skills.
Your good friend
