Poem -

The Lady Of The Tree

The Lady Of The Tree

When I was just a young boy, of only eight years old;

I had a favorite place I played, with large trees so very bold!

It was “The United Theological Seminary”, with grounds that ran for miles;

It had oaks and elms and willow trees, so many different styles!

My favorite one was very old, with strong limbs that sturdy grew;

One of them hung very low, and I knew what I had do!

With arms outstretched, I clasped my hands, then swung my legs around;

And pulled myself on top of it, some feet above the ground!

Then I climbed up to a higher spot, a perfect perch to rest;

I was so darn very proud of myself, for I’d passed this little test!

That was the first time that I heard her voice, the “Lady of the Tree”;

In whispered tones from within her core, she spoke to only me!

She told me that someday real soon, I’d grow tall with limbs so strong;

And I’d not be climbing trees anymore, but I told her she was wrong!

She laughed and said “I hope you’re right”, then her willows began to weep;

For she knew someday, I’d not be back, that I’d have other “dates” to keep!

Hi Dear Debs,

I went out on a limb for this one, and I'm so happy it pleased you.  It kind of made me want to go climb a tree, instead of climbing the walls!

Hugs, Peace and Love,

Are you a tree hugger like me my Larry!??

I loved this one because Oaks are my favourite trees and we have some beautiful trees where we live. Well done sweetie, I loved the story of your little adventures. There is a massive Oak tree in Cheshire that`s the oldest tree in the country and is over 1000 years old!! Needless to say that it is very precious and protected.

Hi Dear G,

Actually, your comment from yesterday, when you talked about loving and hugging trees, somewhat inspired me to write this.  In your comment, you mentioned the beautiful Redwood trees of California, and if you ever came to America you'd love to see them.  Of course, your first stop in America has to be Florida, to see us.  But maybe we could placate you with the beautiful Palm Trees, the many trees that have the hanging moss, and lastly, the most beautiful ones, the massive Banyon Trees.  Anyways, so glad you liked the poem.

All our love,

Linda, Larry and Cody

Hello Larry...

The moment I saw this picture...

The song from Pocohontas, Colors of the Wind came to me...

Who said we get to old to climb a tree and become one with nature?

Tree trimmers do it all the time...

Have you seen the faces in a cottonwood tree?

Some people say that talking to plants helps them grow...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Hugs...

Hi Dear Brother Poet Tony,

Wow!  Your telling me that you are going to pin my poem is to me, is like someone putting a gold medal around my neck.  Just thought you would like to know that they were very kind to us kids at "The Seminary" and allowed us to play ping pong etc., in their rec room.  There were also two baseball diamonds and a football field, which they graciously said we could use.  The grounds were only one block from my house, and it was the greatest play area that a youth could ever dream of.  Thank you again, oh exalted one!

Peace, Love and Rockets,

xox Larry

Poets tell stories and create imagery,

this poem exemplifies the art form,

I say well done! Indeed a gold medal

be proud like the tree you write of;

your branches are strong and you

bring oxygen to the readers of life,

pinned and framed!

Hi Joey,

We are both creatures of the same ilk.  The trees throughout the history of mankind, have always been sacred.  I think this is our first meeting on Cosmo, but I will climb trees with you any day.
