The Laidly Worm Of Bamborough

The Laidly Worm Of Bamborough

In the Kingdom of Northumbria,
A kind king in Bamborough castle
Wed a beautiful but cruel witch
Little did he foresee his hassle
Whilst he marrried her in haste
soon after his former Queens sad demise
This new bride’s beautiness was to his taste
Alas she was a beauty in disguise

The King’s son, Childe Wynd
Was sailing across the sea
When his wicked witch of a wife
was overcome with rage & jealousy
So envious of Childe’s daughter,
She cast an evil spell
They say Princess Margaret changed to a dragon
This is a story I love to tell

I heard this story had a happy ending
The Prince gently kissed the Dragon
He turned the wicked Queen into a toad where she dwelled in a potted flagon
