THE LAKE (What Lies Beneath)

THE LAKE (What Lies Beneath)

The ripples off the lake in circles grew
from the heavy stone that skimmed as he threw
Deep in contemplation he thought of his love
that precious soul he put on a pedestal above

He asked himself what do I do I ve lost my mind to this woman
who drives me insane with her ways, which are inhuman
He remembered when they first met being in total awe
the beauty of her, perfection with no visible flaw

Her skin was like fine porcelain with full lips of ruby red
and hair of cascading black ringlets, that sprang from her head
She was as if from another world on the outside ethereal, almost
but inside she was wicked cruel, her beautiful body just the host

He did nt know where to turn, what to do he loved her so much
but he had began to feel the steely coldness. of her touch
He knew she did nt love him he was just and end to a means
using him to get what she wanted they were nothing but fiends

He killed and she fed on the fresh warm blood, of who he had slain
but now remorse was taking over him, it felt like a physical pain
So one night as she slept he stabbed her, with a stake to her heart
her eyes sprang open, piercing and menacing in the dark

she screamed obscenities until death took her to hell
he thought if only her inside was as beautiful as her outer shell
He had had to rid himself of her, she was evil to the core
And now she rests at the bottom of the lake, as he stands watching
the ripples of water splash on the shore....

I really enjoyed how you it transitioned, reading the first few stanzas I'd never imagine how darkly it would end. It goes to show some things aren't as beautiful on the inside as they are out. You're imagery was great as well. I could imagine her and her cold eyes as he stabbed her clearly in my mind :)

Hi Dear Debs,

Another shining example of "beauty is only skin deep", and it's what "lies under" that is important. Beautiful on the outside, but a hardened core of evil.  This child of Satan, he sent back from whence she came, as the lakes ripples help repurify his saddened soul.

Hugs, Peace and Love,

Larry xxx
