The Last Leaf On The Tree
The last leaf on the tree,
Is the strongest of them all.
Resisting frosts and winds,
So determined not to fall.
Along comes a little girl,
As weak as a mere kitten.
Plucks said leaf with ease,
With it she is so smitten.
She cleans and nourishes it,
This fruit of her endeavour.
Into her pressed flower book,
Where it shall live forever.
Pride of place on page one,
This loved leaf is happy to be.
Glad to be out of the cold,
The last leaf once upon a tree.
Dedicated to Rachel, Gareth, Hannah and Emily and bonnie beastie Percy.

Jim many thanks for your gracious comment and the painting wasn't mine but was ideal for what had been written.
Awe took me back to being a little girl pressing flowers. Beautiful poem my friend and perfect art to compliment the theme x
Gwen thanks for your superb comment and my three older sisters when younger each had a pressed flower scrapbook and they were amazing to look at and see still nature through the eyes of a child.
And as I said to Jim that art picture is the poetry icing on the cake to accompany this poem.
Thanks Gwen for being so generous and It's good to be back my friend.💗
