The Last Supper

The Last Supper

They say there were thirteen alongside Jesus,
maybe the extra could have been one of us;
imagine - being next to Peter, steady as a rock,
'I wish to speak to you about your tendency to mock.'

'There is no need, have compassion, see our master bleed,
surely you should model your lifestyle and take his lead;
you may be a non-believer, think that we're like a clown,
I'm going to give my life to you, crucified upside down.'

There was no place to hide, ate my bread, drank blood,
it was his body he'd given up for me, maybe like I should;
'You will be with me in paradise,' surely I deserved not,
it was easy to dismiss, all the important things I forgot.

It had been a privilege, I shouldnt have been there at all,
just destiny that I should be seen in a painting on the wall.
