The Leaves Of Grass

The Leaves Of Grass

You might say that I’m old fashioned, but I have always taken a pass;
When someone asks me to join them, and smoke “The Leaves Of Grass”!
For I consider my lungs as sacred, no tobacco they have seen;
And to inundate them with gold weed, to me is just obscene!
.
But my cause is disappearing, states now ratify new laws;
They legalize marijuana, which I consider very flawed!
Because already I can smell it, as it permeates the air;
An infringement of my given rights, to me it’s so unfair!
.
For if you choose to be a pot-head, now the law supports your cause;
But their needs to be an addendum, a public smoking clause!
To ingest your dope in private, and not expose non-users to the smoke;
We also have inalienable rights, and don’t want to share your tokes!
.
.
The grass is rampant
States quick to ratify laws
But we have rights too
