The Lightness of Being
I am not claws
I am wings
I am not the shackles
I am the scale
Ignorance Is not a bliss
I am not the broken bits
I am a standing stone
I am not alone
I am the bubbles on a river
I am not the worm
at the bottom of the sea
I am not perfect
I am a crooked line
I am not afraid of being me
I do not lay my face
on the dust
I am not stuck in the mud
I am the change
I am in a state of flux
I am not the surrender
I prevail
I do not succumb
I hold on
I am strong
I have the right
to be here
I am not the weeper
I am the joy
I do not follow
the path of sorrow
I am not the thorn
I am the bud
I am the calm
after the thunder
I am not despair
I am hope
I am the grip
on the fingers
I carve the path
I walk the mile
I sweat and I toil
I am the tomorrow
I am not the crumble
I am the loaf
I am not the cave
I am the wave
I am the reason
I am the word
I am ethos
I am logos
I am not the wound
I am the healer
I am not the hurt
I extend my hand
I am not the water
In the gutter
I am a cloud full of rain
I am not the void
I am the bridge
I close the gap
I cut the rope
I undo the knots
I shake the dust
I set free
I am not the hate
I am Love
I do not descend
I am not the abyss
I transcend
I ascend
Upright! Upright!
I am radiance, I am light!
The lightness
of being.

Wow - your first two lines set your theme perfectly. You are going to, and you do, fly. Love the title. It has a very Carlos Santana in his Mahavishnu Orchestra era feel to it. Besides which it is a beautiful phrase anyway. But I digress. I like the little interjections placed within your train of thought. "Ignorance is not a bliss" "I prevail" "I set free" "I ascend." Your poem needs those I feel.
There is just too much for me to pick out here so I must cull it to those with special resonance for me. "I am a standing stone I am not alone" for reasons you will understand. "I am not afraid of being me." "I am not the hate I am love."
I could go on. Reading this poem has lifted me up. Thank you. And I love that you finish with the title.

You see, I told you before how complex you are .. am glad you had your eyes opened .. You are without doubt so many things .. as indeed we all are .. it's just you somehow managed to encapsulate so many positives in a single cascade .. Neville
Neville, what can I say after what you have said? Bed time for me! I am going to sleep with a smile and dream with flowers. Daisies & lilies. 4 hugs to you.
P.S. Thank you for taking the time to read my writings. And sending me your
thoughts.
