The Loving Snowbirds

The night this photograph was taken, we were at a real posh dance;
Oh so lovey-dovey, feeling all of our romance!
It was taken down in Florida, during the Winter of ninety-five;
We were snowbirds back in those days, from Boston, south we’d drive!
.
For Linda’s father and her step-mother, spent six months down there each year;
Every January, we rented an apartment, to be again with them so near!
They loved to go out dancing, dress up right to the nines;
There were lots of senior soirees, we’d go with them often times!
.
The music was from their era, with Big Band sounds ablast;
It was so beautiful to watch them, all throwbacks from the past!
You’d think that they were young again, whirling round and round the floor;
Most were in their eighties, but so deftly their feet tore!
.
Eventually, we moved from Boston, to the southern Florida shore;
We became full-time Florida residents, commuters, at last no more!
We look back over twenty years ago, to these treasured memories;
Two snowbirds closely hugging, as happy as could be!

Snowbirds from Boston
Left the Winters far behind
For Florida’s sun
