The ‘Mally stairs’

Oooh I love a good ghost story..did I ever tell you about the ‘Mally stairs’ well when I was just a snip of a lass we used to bet each other with dares.. and this steep staircase was as old as the hills.. just the sense of it’s callous coldness gave one chills

These stone steps are in a narrow gully and they are well renowned for spiritual sully..My Father was a fisherman all his living years and he told me about his happenstance with mystery and fears.. he was walking down the Mally stairs in the middle of the night when he heard loud clogs echo to his astonishment and fright.. Yet he was taking a shortcut to the harbour  pier and he said he heard those running clogs so clear

Well wooden clogs were used alot many years ago.. was this invisible sound running ghosts ? we will never know.. but I cannot think of a more scarey bit than the Mally stairs.. they do say Monks used to sit on them to say their prayers.. Even as a little girl  before I ever learned of ghostly apparitions I absolutely hated the Mally stairs and sensed such strange superstitions
