THE MEMORY BOX

A memory box was found in an atticĀ
dusty and forgotten through the years
It heldĀ so many memories
some were happy times, some broughtĀ tears
There were photographs turning sepia
torn and tattered, through Ā ageĀ
There were letters tied up in red bowed
ribbon, tears stainedĀ the page
Ā
They told of a great love affair
of a lady of Ā great renown
And also of a gentlemanĀ a spiff
what you`d call,Ā a manĀ about town
The letters recalled Ā the lovers trysts
down beside,Ā an old willow tree
But theseĀ clandestine meetings were wrong
because the lady was not free
You see she had a husband but he
was a drunk, a bully a cad
But two children she had given himĀ
these the most precious gifts, she had
Her lover wanted them to run awayĀ
for them to be together
But onlyĀ her he wanted Ā her children
had to stay, was written in one letter
The affair lasted many years
fifty lettersĀ the lady keptĀ
In theĀ last letterĀ the gentlemanĀ ended
it, the reader thought of her bereft
So all was left was this memory box in an attic
it was this Ā lady`s treasure
Holding memories of a great love affair
memoriesĀ that would last, foreverĀ

Hi Dear Debs,
This sacred Memory Box, letters from the past about a woman torn in half. Ā Her husband, self-serving, uncaring, unfulfilling, yet, the father of her two Children. Ā Her lover, everything she ever dreamt of for her Prince Charming, taking her on fugues of ecstasy. Ā "Run away with me", he said. Ā "I have two Children", said she. Ā "Leave them with their father and only be with me". Ā "Never could I do that", was her reply, "And since you cannot love them, I have to say goodbye".
Hugs, Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
