THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN

Standing on the train platform
Waiting for the midnight train
Listening to the lady talk
On the pay phone screaming
And crying.
Just then the midnight
Train was on time the
Lady ask me for a dime
I said the train is coming
She said i am not getting on
The train with your dime
One last call before i go insane
I got on the train
And onward we went
Past rivers and lakes
They even had cakes
On the train
I sit here watching
The moon and the stars
As the midnight train
Goes over the mountains
And through the woods
The midnight train
I fell sleep and
Then morning
Came and got off
The midnight train.

Greg
you just took me back to the countless times I have stood in the past on platforms. You captured that silence felt late at night when all you have is to people watch (if anyone is there to watch) I could really picture that moment here watching the lady on the phone. Hearing the train arriving. The sense of travel not just on the train but through those very moments in life, came through really well here. A lovely narrative that does work

this is a super atmospheric post Greg .. It was so easy to imagine being there on that platform .. You made it feel like someone switched off all the colour and everything gave way to black and white .. thank you for the ride sir ................... Neville
Thank you Neville
At first I don’t like this poem I didn’t think it was gonna be anything threw it away
taking it out and looking at it again trying to figure out throwing it away again taking it out finally I thought I’ll just take a chance with this
You certainly made the write decision sir ............................ Neville :)
I am with Tony on this. You did a good job taking us on the journey with you. I would had a couple of cocktails though LOL
Thank you Greg I am very honored you like my poem
Greg a great journey and venture poem and all that was missing was the smell of being there.
And said journey was a good one with superb and vivid narrative throughout and a midnight train has the feel of a passenger almost alone with just their thoughts for company.
Enjoyed reading this one Greg and full honours to you for taking us down those darkened tracks.
Hope all is well and keep writing and I'll keep reading and back tomorrow to respectfully catch up.
Thank you Shaun
Very enjoyable. I read it over and over again each time slower than the last.
