The Mourning Monkey
Oh my Daddy Cody, I miss you so very much;
I miss your softened kisses, and your jaws that so tender clutched!
You would carry me after eating, making whimpers in your throat;
You would find a place to set me, and over me you’d dote!
.
When your Mommy and your Daddy, saw how much you loved me true;
They went out and bought another, just in case my time was through!
But they never had to open it, for so gentle did you be;
Your teeth would never hurt me, and insured my longevity!
.
If only I could have repaid you, and given you more years too;
But you left me fourteen months ago, now I cry all day for you!
I lay now by your ashes, atop your sacred shrine;
Pining for my Daddy, who used to be all mine!
.
.
          Monkey is mourning
        For his beloved Daddy
           His top banana
