Poem -

The night.

It’s beauteous and appalling.

The night.

The night time
It’s beauteous and appalling
The stars all tell their own story
Different backgrounds
Different shades
Different temperatures
Different names
Different shapes

Nothing is the same.
Not as before.
Years ago, stars used to lie upon my ceiling.
You know, the cheap ones that stick and glow in the dark
But they only glow for so long
Until you stop believing
And their glow fades
To a watery neon green
To the point where they get thrown away.
Away.

Like the planets.
Like pluto when he was ejected from the list
When he was discriminated against and placed in a separate line.
Where he was put under a glass full of judgment and criticism
Where they found he wasn’t unique enough to be considered a planet.
A planet like Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, or the Earth.

Earth.
We have ruined the Earth.
Pollution reigns in the air and seeps into our lungs.
We welcome it into our body as if it was a casual guest.
But it’s not. It’s the devil that contaminates our oxygen.
The oxygen released by trees.
We ruin their work.

Trees grow from the ground.
They start off as just
Babies
Like us.
But we take it for granted
We cut them
We take them
We burn them
But we would never do that to a child, would we?

The night.
It’s dark.
Just like humanity.
Just like outer space.
Just like our minds.

The fish of the sea

Wow. Mira, I was blown away by this one. I have never attempted spoken poetry but you preformed it so beautifully. I really enjoyed the theme, a write for the environment and the analogy of Pluto. I think we can all relate to feeling discriminated against in different ways, especially us poets, we are a different kind! Smashing read, I couldn't go without pinning.  Gonna come back to this one in the future.

Thank you, and I agree. Every poet is different and unique and their own way and a lot of people fail to realize the beauty of that and instead discriminate against it.

Stunning piece and the audio just makes this even more special. I loved how you linked each subject as you contemplated through. Absolutely perfect. You write above and beyond your years my poetic friend :) like Max says, this is one to come back to and listen again and again 📌⭐️

Thank you, one of my favorite ways to write is writing whatever is on my mind and linking it all the way back to the beginning.
