Dear Parents

Dear Parents,
Why do you ignore what I have to say?
You say you are listening, but it seems like you are only hearing what you want to hear.
And I know you think likewise
But I am hearing you, which is a contrast against your actions
Please listen to me.
I know I amÂ
Not
Perfect
But neither are you.
I hate when you call me disappointing.
My mind already paces about feeling a burden every night
But you sayÂ
I’m just a kid.
I have nothing to worry about.
My life is perfect.
I am dramatic.Â
And you continue to say that
When you see the cuts on my wrists
When the cops were called and I was found on the floor with pills in my body.
You still continue to say I don’t need help.
That I am ok.
That I am not the victim.
But I’m hurting.
You are hurting me.
But I guess it’s my teenage hormones that make me want to sleep and never return, isn’t it father?
Please listen to me.
Stop yelling over me for two seconds.
You say you want me to act like an adult.
So then stop treating me like a kid.Â

Awww...this is so heartfelt and so sad. I have always said to my kids that I don't care whether they get an A grade or an E grade as long as it is the best they can do both will be celebrated equally. And it was like that. All they had to do was try their best in all ways. And they have done. They have all grown up to be beautiful people and I am so proud of them all. I am not saying my approach was the right one but it is what I just believe should be x
This is a wonderful approach x
