THE OLD COAL MINER

I stand here on the stage and take a page from my life, When I was little girl I sit by the radio and listen to my grandma sing about her daddy the old coal miner,She said he worked all night in mines and work all day on the farm, When I was a young woman I would go out to my grandmas house and sit on the porch and grandma would talk about her daddy the old coal miner, She said he would sit on the porch at night and talk about the farm and the war sing a hymn or two and read the bible by the coal oil light,The old coal miner is gone but the song is still sung today and her memories still lives on, The old coal miner,

Dear Greg,
"The Old Coal Miner", an anomaly, for so many die young from the Black Lung Disease. Â
But this one lives forever in a song.
Very sweet and sentimental write.
Peace and Love,
