The Old Withered Tree🌳

“Sshh” I am listening to the whispers thru the wuthering leaves
 
“Can you not hear it ?” 
Such a sorrowful sighing I fear she grieves

Does she mourn for the lamentable loss of her lustre

As she strengthens her branches with all she can muster

0h I see no suckered sprigs on your bended bough

“Has that wretched wind wrecked you somehow ?”

I can hear the tormented troubles of this tree, as her suffering sighs speak to me

“I am so sorry my lanky limbed old withered tree”, as I listen to this wailing especially for me

You have stood strong and steady for a century or more 

Amidst the girth of your greatness, on my earthy floor

“Please don’t give up the ghost my friend, this weary wake will surely end”

Yet she cries her dripdrop tears of sticky sap, from the wild weathered chilly cold snap...
