The One Thing I Hide

This is a poem written in a lgbtqia+ persons shoes.

The One Thing I Hide

Everyone I meet, no matter the day
Thinks I'm some kind of peaceful pray

As I am not straight like the other men to whom we must obey
I'm tired of all the mix matching play

Just let us play with whom we want
And calmly stop this boy and girl font

I can be whoever I please
Please stop telling me I'm a disease

It's not my fault I like other men
Though I keep getting told by Wren

The act of liking someone else
Different than your so to be spouse

Is a true crime
And will be a cost of time

Sentenced to jail for at least three months
Is what happened to my father in the front

In the front of the lawn there he stood
Cuffs on his hand's oh how he looked

He was not happy as he had been betrayed
By that very one man who had him played

And now we all must the queers the fluids and even the bystanders
Must hide beneath the high standers

We all must live our average lives
But sadly we all our crippling inside

We have to be with the gender we do not want
And classified as something we so called aren't

Today we stand
With genuine love in our hands

As people truly finally accept
Our gender, loves, and adept

Thank you to the one who made us feel true
To us and the others that wanted us through

As we are now finally at peace
Thank you to the man that lead us to peace.

The fish of the sea

Hi Mel, I really enjoyed this one and the genuineness of it. It seems like society always makes the same mistakes... disregarding those who are different and sometimes punishing them so severely... I don't have anything against the LGBTQ+ community, I have friends that identify with that. I`m just hella introverted, and perhaps a bit sensitive to their extroverted... I find them a bit much sometimes. Though that doesn't go for all LGBTQ+ people, most are really lovely and the kindest people I have ever met. As you can see this one really struck a chord for me. Fantastic write

A great honest write. Too often voices go unheard. We all deserve to be happy. To feel we belong and have freedom to just be ourselves.  It does amaze me in this day and age how archaic the mentality can still be. Sexuality doesn’t define a persons personality. It’s their private choice who they feel attracted to. Thanks for highlighting this subject x

I agree Gwendoline, I haven't seen many poems about it so I decided I'd make one, thanks for your nice comment as well! (Also I'm a huge fan of your poetry)
