The other hunger

The other hunger

What of we who inherit the earth?
oblivious to the lost soul
confined within a prism of prose
pocket laden and belly whole

Who are we to scorn the ages?
when and where we do not know
verse idly lost amongst the fear
many a dreamer had to go

Who are we to know of standard?
slighting all by circumstanceĀ
for poverty bears a heavy burden
realitys realm ravaging romance

Who are we to speak of courage?
from our pedestals built on sand
rustic charm forged a living
lexicons drawn on the hand

Who are we to know of song?
having never seen the lark ascend
their chorus rise at break of dawn
as leaves doeth fall for season's end

Who are we to speak of poets?
postulating in our pride
the other hunger quietly moves
along the ill conceived divide.
