The pogrom

The pogrom

Ye who shall destroy

    Destroy

  Burn

     Bite into a hand

   With flames

       Flames upon torches

These houses

     Children

 Women

       Men

    Shall be

Destroyed

    Burnt

       Murdered

Murdered in a village

     Smoke

         Bellowing

   From

        The burnt village

           Bodies in their homes

Crying out

    Save us

        For the pogrom

     But nought

 Nothing

    Not a hand

No arms of God

    To save a man

     Woman

Child

 Grey ashes that in

The air left asking

         Where was thy God?
