THE PORTRAIT OF YOUR SMILE

THE PORTRAIT OF YOUR SMILE

CAN ONE CORRECTLY DESCRIBE YOUR SMILE
WITHOUT CAUSING AN EMBARRASSMENT TO ONES SELF
BY THEIR CHOICEST OF WORDS,
I’M AFRAID NOT.

AS IMPOSSIBLE IT IS, FOR THE HUMAN MIND
TO SPUNG THE TOTALLY OF GOD,
SO WILL ONE BE IN A QUANDARY
TO ARTICULATE
THE PORTRAIT OF YOUR SMILE.

THE BEAUTY OF A STARLIT SKY
WITH THE DISTANT TWINKLING
OF THEIR LUMINOUS EYES
GAZING UPON THE MOON IN ITS FULLNESS
CANNOT BE COMPARED
TO THE PORTRAIT OF YOUR SMILE.

GATHER ALL THE BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS
OF THE EARTH TOGETHER
ARRAY THEM ON THE FACE OF THE DANCING SEA
AND THE EARTH’S BADIN OF WATER
THOUGH BEAUTIFUL A VASE,
DEAR NOT SHADOW
THE PORTRAIT OF YOUR SMILE.

WILFORD BARKER.
