The Practical Mister Christopher

On this warm night in July
as the moon drips light
I think about the days to come
and I want to close my eyes and pretend
Β destiny goes in a straight line
everything that's supposed to happen
will happen, right on time
but I ain't 'that boy'
Β I'm too practical a vampire
too cynical
too ego-maniacal
to believe that the days to come
have some scripted pre-ordained outcome;
a road -map,Β written in stone
I know there are a hundred places I could go
with choices commanding every possibility
still, I wish I could believe for a second
in the nonsense of predestination
my life would be easy
Β I could just smile
warm my soul in the comfort of madness
Β Β Β and I'd never have to worry

Very Enjoyable Read. I Loved "just join the assembly line, and just be"! Cheers.
thanks for commenting Reina, I had something quite different in mind when I began composing this poem, it was going to be about my daughter leaving home and going off to school far away, but I got too emotional and shifted to this one instead, more satire than anything else, glad you enjoyed....cheers
lol, thanks sister C, yes I`m not a fan of predestination, not sure why the poem shifted towards it, the poem I started off writing became too personal, so I changed it to this one...no I don`t want to be a `victim of society` I was looking for a picture for poem and saw Christopher Lee, lol, had to use it so I put in the word vampire, it is very rare thatΒ my mind can focus on one thing at a time when I compose a poem, at times I just have to stop....thanks again...cheersΒ
vampires are awesome! great write Christopher!
vampires are indeed 'awesome' as long as they aren't 'real' vampires, cheers, poet
