Poem -

The prophets they told me

I could hear them approaching on horseback,
even though I was fast asleep,
their voices were muffled but soothing,
I could not quite pick out what they were trying to tell me;
all that I know is that I was to go on a journey,
that is what I assumed they meant anyway,
I had to follow them,
obey their orders
and address the masses to the code,
forewarn them of the things to come.
these prophets could have been angels,
to be reveared,
their teachings adhered to,
they came in the name of peace
but they do not preach freedom,
they control everything that we have ever known
and are likely to ever know,
we must love when told to love,
kill when instructed,
I know this because the prophets they told me.
