The Rainmaker

The Rainmaker

While you were here my eyes stayed dry, cried only tears of joy;

So beautiful, you seemed unreal, like a fluffy little toy!

You brought such sunshine to my heart, where before, the darkness shone;

You mated with my lonely soul, no longer was it alone!

We shared life’s passions and “Brothers” were, this man and his great dog;

You gave my life such clarity, you lifted all the fog!

You led me to the silken road, from ancient times ago;

I heard the songs that Angels sing, in the winds that gently blow!

You did so much to save my life, but I could not save yours;

I did my best to keep you well, but Fate had pain in store!

It took you from me very fast; no chance had I to win;

And that’s the night that broke my heart, my soul sobbed for what had been!

So now the tears in torrents fall, no longer ones of joy;

The Rainmaker has now filled my heart, this pain could me destroy!

I’ve lost the very core of me, the keeper of my soul;

Now the songs I hear are dirges dark, and the knelling as they toll!
