The Raven

Photograph of Linda, the true woman of my dreams-my Raven Soulmate
.
In the Fall of 1983, I was staying in North Miami Beach;
Not too sure of what my future held, or what goals I wished to reach!
I was taking a slight sabbatical, from a girl I was living with;
She stayed up in Cincinnati, while I figured out life’s pith!
.
I was renting space in a Dania gallery, my paintings on the walls;
One day, a beautiful young woman came, so statuesque and tall!
She stood five feet eight and was regal, long dark hair down to her waist;
We locked eyes and I felt a connection, this gorgeous girl my taste!
.
We talked almost an hour, she was a photographer by trade;
She was also one-half Cherokee, this exquisite piece of jade!
In my mind, I labeled her “The Raven”, her plumage hanging like a coat;
I did all I could to impress her, and a relationship promote!
.
I told her I needed some photos, of a couple of paintings I had bought;
She agreed to shoot them the next morning, all night long my mind was taut!
For she seemed the answer to many dreams, my heart raced when she was near;
But did she feel the same as me, was her heart, like mine endeared!
.
Sure enough, just like she promised, she was there at ten a.m.;
With all the right equipment, she so deftly photographed them!
Then after she was finished, I asked her out to lunch;
She said she had another appointment, that her time was in a crunch!
.
But she said she could come back tomorrow, to bring the developed pics;
And if I still wanted to take her, lunch was yes, and not a nix!
Again I spent a restless night, her charms had me on fire;
I had feelings that long had been dormant, such passionate desire!
.
Around eleven the next morning, she floated through the door;
Looking more ravishing than ever, a sight for my eyes sore!
Her hair was done in two braids, like a Pocahontas Belle;
My heart was doing somersaults, I think in love I fell!
We walked to a local restaurant, each step like a fantasy;
At lunch, I ingested all her loveliness, but then she said these words to me!
“Larry, I feel a great attraction, as I know you also do”;
“I have wrestled with these feelings, but to another I must stay true”!
.
I saw a tear fall as she said this, I felt some also in my heart;
Even though we had these passions, our love could never start!
We returned back to the gallery, we exchanged our first and final kiss;
It took me almost ten more years, to find another Raven such as this!
.
.
We shared brief love
Then nine years later I found
My Raven Soulmate

My Dear Tony,
As I write the chronicles of my past, I look forward to creating new ones, relating the beautiful works of art that have recently come into my life, i.e., dear poetic Soulmates like Cherie and you. You have added to my collection of treasured art, with these heartfelt words you bestow upon me. "a cavalcade of amazingly original encounters and experiences that will, in my estimation, be summed up beautifully in a book of these poetic remembrances and narrative negotiations with your memories and emotions being organized for all to enjoy!!...."
Some day, in the near future, you and I are going to have an amazing Pow wow.
All my love,
Larry xxx
