The Robbery

The Robbery

I stole your heart, not possible to give it back,
then there was nothing that I would lack;
I couldn't lock it away in a nearby drawer,
as I looked at it pulsing, who could ask for more.

I sat on my bed and counted out the notes,
we were all to leave in the morning on different boats,
one to Brazil where the nuts where the nuts came from,
another to South  America where the nuts go to.

I saw the drawer moving, secured it in position,
to just leave it like that, I needed your permission,
it had loved me all these years without a break,
it had been obsessive, possessive, more than I could take.

I would always carry with me the memory of my lover,
standing on the ship, looking back at the white cliffs of Dover.
