The Rusty Rocking Chair

The Rusty Rocking Chair

It always amazed me how fate could be such a cruel but beautiful thing.Β
Bringing two people together,Β
Just to rip them apart.
But the moments fate had created were timeless,Β
The kind of moments that live on long after he’s gone,Β
While she’s rocking back and forth on the rusty rocking chair he had carved,Β
Watching her great-grandchildren from the window,
Running her finger over the wrinkles that covered the hands he once held.Β
She could picture him there;Β
His one hand placed gently on her thigh,Β
Her head on his shoulder,
Watching their two children run through the rain for the first time.Β
He’d softly lift her chin and kiss her forehead,
While she sat there in awe,Β
Rocking back and forth on her freshly carved chair,Β
Admiring how beautifully her life had fallen into place.
Β
And that's the thing about love,Β
It never truly goes away.Β
One day fate guides you towards someone…
And the feelings they give you become a part of you.Β
Even after their gone,Β
The memories and feelings continue,
Living on inside you.Β
Love; both the most beautiful and peril thing.
