The Sandman

Weary head lay down to rest,
Slumber, seldom many resist.
Incessant hands pass in time,
Sprightly manner, fog of mind.
Fatigue lays thick, dusted fairly,
Heavy eyes open barely,
Motion slows and thoughts erratic,
Dream state flows and bows, sporadic.
Sweetly nestled between our sheets,
Our conscious drifts midst slow heart beats,
Breathing deeply, eyes a flicker,
Thoughts attune, we delve in thicker.
Edge of madness, surreal in flow,
Unremitting thoughts in grow,
Some in depth, worrying mind,
Some bizarre continuously entwine.
A crack of light adrift in dark,
Birds sweet songs lay in hark.
Yawn and rise, dawn of new day,
Sandman once more ventures away.
