The sands of youth

The sands of youth

I merrily meandered on that summers day
as the sun set o'er the bay
whilst my worries went away
with the waves that summers day,
the gulls did glide  across the sky
as rambling thought came rushing by
tormented not by when but why
underneath that crimson sky.
The furrowed lines did glisten then
tired eyes did moisten when
memories from age of ten
all came back to me then,
hallowed days of yesteryear
innocence I held so dear
now it was all so clear
from those thoughts of yesteryear.
Those sands of youth were mine that day
till waves swept my castle away
but memory will always stay
of how I learned of joy that day.
