the silence of nothingness

on her face
there used to be a sunrise
now, she hardly ever smiles
there are no kisses on her lips
no caresses on her hands
her eyes no longer seek mine
to converse
I have asked her
but she often responds
that -it's nothing- and so
amid the silence of nothingness
she becomes unreachable for me
the need to be together
withers away
absence and exasperation
grow in its place
we hardly ever converse and
when we do… we argue
we sit at the table
like two strangers
two oceans that come together
but their waters do not mix
I have asked her
but she often responds
that -it's nothing- and so
amid the silence of nothingness
the distance that takes us apart
grows
something I must find
something else to try
either it goes right or it goes wrong
something will stand against nothingness
to keep a heart in love
leaves will fall in autumn
a new colour will sprout in spring
I will not surrender to nothingness
at least
not in silence
- -
there is a silence of nothingness
when people who loved you
forgets who they are
therefore you are forgotten

wow this is epic!
thank you Poetessdarkly.
My Aunt is showing sings of dementia, she is 70. Her mood varies for no reason: anger sometimes, sometimes overwhelming happiness, but her silence is what hurts me the most. The nothingness avances like a cloud sometimes.
I do believe in justicie, life is beautiful, as we grow we return to the nature of our being: love, innocence.
God help us to understand things we cannot change.
Best regards.
