The silent shadow
Underneath yon pale moonlight I saw a shadow dance
Clandestinely in a courtyard, was it looking for romance?
And as I watched this silent silhouette soothe my soul with happenstance
It tripped the light fantastic, I was captivated at first glance..
Strangely and eerily coz nobody else was there
Not a footstep nor a gasp of breath as that shape moved everywhere
And as I inhaled and exhaled taking in the cold night air
I sat totally mesmerised on an old wooden park chair..
I thought I heard a pianist play amidst the twilight chilly breeze
Betwixt an ambience of musical melodies that shadow faded in the trees
And the only sound that broke the silence was a solitary slight wheeze
As I got up to go away I felt a trifle ill at ease...
