The Sinner

The Sinner

I spiral downward
In the vortex of my death
Heaven denies me

My Dear Brother Tony,

My Brother lauds me

This is very Dante-esque. Brilliant write, Larry. And Dante himself gave sinners hope;
"The poets leave hell and again behold the stars." Dante

My dear Larry...

no brand deters friends
find in our words and hearts   that
heaven lies therein

If my assumption is correct and this most recent infernal haiku was inspired by the same travails which has inspired your previous 'Satanic Verses'...I'm sorry.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do.

My Dear Friend Jason,

I thank you so much for your heartfelt concerns, but in all sincerity, those previous "Satanic Verses", had nothing to do with this Haiku.  As I grow older, I find myself in retrospection, thinking about all the wrongs I committed, wishing they were rights.  I was in an emotional state when I wrote this, and wanted to portray a person whose sins superseded God's Forgiveness.  I dedicate this Haiku to you.

My sin's cicatrix
Deter not my dearest friend
He anoints my cup

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx

Larry, my dear friend...

the cup overflows
but we decide for ourselves
to cleanse or to drown

All I'll say is this: a life which has been truly, fully, lived...is strewn with the detritus of regrets; you can wear those regrets as a badge of striving (sometimes failing) humanity...or as a noose. In his comment above, 'Lost' quoted Dante...allow me the same privilege when I say, "Io fei giubetto me delle mei case" (I've made my own home my gallows). The home you and Linda have made, for and of one another, is a home of love and joy. Never forget that...even in those dark hours when the wolf is staring at you from the shadows.

I shall ever remain...

My Dear Friend Jason,

As Linda and I read your heartfelt words which bring tears to our eyes, we worry, that to have found such a loving soul on Cosmo, has all been but a dream, and we will soon return to reality.  Yet, as we wait for our awakening, we realize that this is no fantasy, it is for real.  What we will never forget, is our poetic soulmate Jason Brown, who inundates us with his love.

Peace and Love,
Linda and Larry xxx
