The Snake

The Snake

'Ladies and gentlemen, please remain in your seats,
a snake has found its way into the cabin amongst the treats,'
the plane droned on, maybe new stripes on the outside,
people darted glances, fearing the worst, no place to hide.

Now that snake was bored, all the way from Africa,
perhaps it would find peace and a new life in America,
it didn't like constrictions, people eyeing him in a glass case,
they asked him if he'd like duty-free, slithered away without a trace.

He played a game of snakes and ladders with a small boy,
and when he wasn't looking, swallowed his favourite toy,
immediately burst into tears, wrapped his leg in consolation,
who wants me - now I'm exposed and declared my position.

Back in the hold, he looked out the window at the Ohio runway,
they never got me, I'll be returning to the civillised jungle one day.
