Poem -
The Stolen Jokers
How lamented the Circus clown
not seen as a happy fool
used instead as a petrifying
funless menacing tool
Renowned for children's joy
provider of belly filled laughs
now evoking terrifying fear
on dark and lonely paths
To jump out of nowhere
on innocent unsuspecting folk
purposely to scare witless
is a sick and twisted joke
Who are these wicked minded
to reap true sense of fun
so on seeing a clown
feels like meeting a terrorist's gun
Sadly goodbye the entertaining clown
the glory days are gone
they have stolen your innocent disguise
and made it an evil 'Swan Song'!

Hi Wendy I agree with what has been happening over the
last weeks with these people dressing up as clowns and frightening people
it is awful taking away the picture of the happy funny clown that
children and adults alike, enjoy. your poem is written
beautifully and captures the sad sign of the times
