The Stranger

Strong and brave and fearless
portrayed by mirrored glass
With solitude my comfort
all loneliness had passed
Yet when I felt your kindness...
a fleeting time of warmth
your face remained a stranger
your heart became my thoughts
The stature and composure
I'd wielded for so long
like candles burning slowlyÂ
that melt until they're gone
With roots unearthed beneath me
I lurk on treacherous ground
In wilderness I listen
I long to hear your sound
How does my mind deceive me...
conspire within my chest?
to seek within the stranger
the soul I'd briefly met
I ponder deep within me
and shudder from above
at the heart that knows no boundaries
and the soul that yearns to love

This is amazing Hayley, perfect in rhyme and tempo and you have really managed to convey in words how souls can connect in an instant and for an instant yet leave a lifelong yearning to connect again. Fabulous write x
