The Strays

Feeling this pain by touching the flame
Doesn't hurt as bad
It can't compare to what happened there
When we lost the bond we had
Shying away from the things that you'd say
Ignoring the feeling of doubt
But it was too much you had to lose touch
When resentment came about
Cruel words spoken, another glass broken
I winced at the slam of a door
I remember we fought when I had to be taught
Not to do that anymore
We took a bad turn when I couldn't learn
All the things a puppy should
So you took me away to where I now stay
Because I had to learn to be good
You said you'd come back but I don't believe that
It's already been a few days
Now I'm alone with my memories of home
In the woods with the rest of the strays

Aww....such a sad feel to this ...nice write ?
? thank you! When I was writing this, it wasn't actually about abandoning a puppy at first but I thought I'd add a twist. For some reason I can only write sad poems. The sad ones make you think and leave an impression. :)
Yes, mostly I'm like that also, I love poems that convey emotion rather than visual...though both is good if it can be managed lol ??
:) that's good, I agree
