The Street

The Street

I saw you in the shop window
White pretty mannequin
These pouting lips say
Come to me -
I walked past you
That your wave drew me inside
I felt your plastic look
You looked into my suffering eyes
How you soothed my
stuttering soul
Plastic lady of the night;
How you soothed -
I heard motor cycles
Noisily past waiting men
With scruffy dogs and
Wet gnomes in a suburban thunderstorm
I saw pretty girls with bouncing breasts
Past this mannequin that stole the heart
Of lovers
Past this grey concrete matter called Street
I saw liquor bottles in brown sheets
Of paper
That half men drank half of
Before the evening police made their arrests
This here is the street - the damn street where the heroine addicted toothless lay on the sidewalk
Smelling like my dog
....dog has a home; mannequin
You have a home
You have clothes;  granted borrowed
Roof over the head
Society,  so fucking hopeless
So fucking useless
....servitude
Some thing sucks
Whores suck
For a few dollars
On the way down
The street
