THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES

Morning has brokenÂ
And so were my ties to the night
Where I laid in fear of yesterday's disappointmentsÂ
And concerns of the day's endÂ
My eyes were closed in sleep
My body requiring rest from the days toil
But my mind laid awakeÂ
Replaying the images capturedÂ
And contemplating what the new day will bringÂ
My seconds of rest has come to an endÂ
I was aware of the new day and yesterday's torment
Before the roster crows, before the robin sing
Before the Eagles took to the air
As consciousness returnedÂ
So does the burdens of this life
O that I was as the winged creaturesÂ
Never having to choose between right and wrongÂ
Unaware of good and evil
Unconcerned of others opinionsÂ
Free to do as I choose without condemnationÂ
Bathing in the sunshine of His glory
And Provided for by the bounty of His love
But I am a man of sorrowsÂ
A recipient of pain and a creature of choice.
