The Sweetest Sunday

The Sweetest Sunday

It was the first time that you saw him, a sunny Sunday the middle May;

The most beautiful one I have ever experienced, I shall never forget that day!

Your Mommy was ultra worried, that your home you would not share;

That you would not accept another doggie, living with you there!

But I told her not to sweat it, for I knew my Nico’s heart;

You would cherish your new found Brother, and love him from the start!

So we went back down to your breeder, and picked a puppy out for you;

We chose the wildest of the seven, for you were feisty too!

Mommy held him while we drove home, you licked and kissed his face;

I heard a sigh of relief come from her, as her heart began to race!

We pulled into our driveway, then walked through our front door;

We put him down to play with you, off and running you two tore!

We had decided to name him Cody, after your name, our dear Nico;

For twelve years you were inseparable, where was one the other’d go!

I look at this priceless photo, from that “Sweetest First Sunday”;

Now that you’re no longer with us, these memories shall never fade away!

My dear Larry,

Such a sweet, lovely story to read on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

You're a kindhearted and hopeful person; but, to be frank, Linda was right to be worried. Ordinarily, dogs see each other as rivals to be dominated, not new brothers to be embraced. You were very lucky to have found two such spirited and openhearted exceptions!!

My warmest greetings to you all on this 'Sweetest Sunday'.

your friend & fan,

J ;)

My Dear Friend Jason,

Nico was the most gentle, kindhearted, loving doggie I've ever seen.  I watched several times in amazement, when Cody and him would be eating a meal, and Cody would make his way over to Nico's bowl.   One would have thought that as Cody did to Nico when he got near Cody's bowl, that Nico would have growled, and told him stay away.  Yet, that beautiful little Angel would move away and give Cody his food.  As I write these words, the memory brings tears to my eyes.  There was no other like him.

Warmest greetings back to you on this "Monday, Monday".

Peace and Love,

Larry xxx
