The Total Eclipse

You were the sun that we orbited ‘round, the planets that you nurtured and warmed;

So lucky were we to be in your path, when our solar system was formed!

For so many years we circled your core, the center of our universe;

You brought us the light and the heat that sustained, with your love around us immersed!

But then there came that cataclysmic event, the total eclipse of your heart;

Your powerful rays no longer shone out, from our paths you had to depart!

You drifted away as we shivered and shook, in the cold and darkness that came;

Your planets now rotating out of control, their orbits were never the same!

Now they lay frigid and cold with no paths to take, barren with no sunlight of you;

They drift in space with no gravities’ pull, without their core they once knew!

They’re pulled towards the black hole to never return, to the galaxy they once had so loved;

To deep outer space where they’ll wither and die, in unknown dark skies up above!

Your total eclipse was also theirs too, the end of the path they’d known;

The light of their life was no longer there, as before it had so brightly shone!

Their future that was, will now never be, the core of their souls went away;

They float through the darkness into far distant space, your planets erode some each day!
