The Tower

My sins have their stories
And my stories have their sins
I get them confused daily
Where one ends and one begins
I needn't look to deeply
On the surface they do ly
They tell a tired story
Of a girl who lived a lie
She believed in fairy tales
And in love that ever lasts
She believed in those close to her
And even the shadows they cast
Now she sits in a tower
Locked away from all the world
She put herself here you see
To keep from being hurt like when she was a girl
She had known so much pain
And so much heartache deep inside
That she vowed to never trust another
So in this tower she will hide
No one can cut her here
Or make her bleed and cry
Or scream and steal her spirit
And she won't have to wonder why
Why they always leave
Why they never want to stay
Why God takes the ones that do
Why she is to be alone come what may
Her heart cannot bleed here
Because it cannot beat
It cannot live without love
It cannot live in such deceit
But if it isn't living
It cannot die inside
It cannot fall to pieces
In this tower that it hides
So here is my story
That is riddled throughout with sin
I'm not sure where it started
But in this tower it does end
