The Tragedy of Ignorance

Natural instinct can differ greatly
but Iām going to be honest, so please donāt hate me
No one and I mean no one should suffer
of discrimination from gender or color
No one should get away with these crimes
so Iām going to speak out by using my rhymes
I am not of color so I will never know
but racism is out there its just hard to clearly show
What I suffered is not one single account
but many women with me, a scary amount
I was sexually harassed during middle school
Ladies out there use your voice because that is not cool
Don't be afraid to trust your gut
and kick him in the balls if he touches your butt

I wrote this poem not 3 months after my friend and I were sexually harassedĀ in in middle school. Fortunately we spoke out and the boys whoĀ harassed us were punished and hopefully learned theirĀ lesson. Ladies don't be afraid to speak out, no matter what you did do, it is not your fault! One reason women don't often report these things is that they don't want to be labeled or told that they are incorrect, but another reason is some women may feel like since they were flirting they brought this upon themselves, this is NOT true. No one is responsible for the way a boy/man acts towards you EXCEPT THEMSELVES! So never be afraid to speak out!
Brilliant poem, I especially like the end, if anyone is being inappropriate to you a kick in the balls will definitely do the job.
