Life saver

Walking down one foot leading the other
waving to the crowd of my own fears
missing my father and mother
my support through all those years

and then I stop and look all the way down
the hot lava of failure burns beneath my feet
bubbling burning everything lacking all sound
and then I start falling my face as white as a sheet

I hit the substance with a painful collision
trying to swim in the burning hot swells
feeling  despair as I recall my derision
and all the disbelief I had as well

How could I be so foolish to think I would not fall
I was so proud and adamant
Oh how I thought I was above it all
and then down I went

I finally managed to climb above
and catch my breath on the rocks
suddenly rescued by a lifesaver of love
that helped me through the obstacles that block

I came up from the rapids gasping out for air
to see all those that I love
they were all just right there
to support me and were cheering me on from above

And even though I know
I will fall again one day
these relationships I sow
will keep it all at bay
